Aussie Swing REVISITED

So if you have been around here for a while, you might remember my pattern "Aussie Swing" which is available both on Ravelry and Etsy.

Well I have been making a few changes -
Firstly there are now 4 sizes - 3-12mths, 1yr, 2yr  and 3yr

And I worked another lace pattern into the design

Worked in Bendigo Woollen Mills 8ply Cotton - Glacier
Its so soft, love it

I'm really pleased with how well this fit into the pattern :-)

Old is New :-) again

Ok, so once again another vintage pattern :-)
Hope your not tired of them yet ?????

This picture is from the pattern

and this photo is my version

and here is a close up of the pattern

This pattern is called "Treasure" and is available in my Etsy store
I can't wait to see my granddaughter in it.
It's perfect for those days when it turns just a little cool.  It is a cropped style

Yes, I couldn't wait.  I did try it on her. ;-)
But the photo will be nicer in a lovely summer dress

More details can be found on my Ravely project

Have a great day!!!

Another Vintage Pattern - Old is New Project

And my love affair with vintage patterns continues
It may have something with how cute my granddaughter looks in it as well :-)

It is worked in 3ply yarn and with 3mm needles.  Not something I usually use.  But I was lucky enough to have been gifted a cone of Superfine Australia 3ply crepe yarn, and it was the perfect colour for this project.  VBG
I do need to work on my knitting embroidery skills though :-(

But I love it!!!!!

And here is a very active 18mth old wearing it.  It's the best photo I could get :-)

If your interested, the pattern is available via my Etsy shop - here

Vintage Baby Knits

Hi

So for the first time in a very long time, I am writing a post because .......

I have an urge to share my latest addiction with you!!!!

Vintage Baby Patterns

You would be amazed, when you look closely and search how "New" some of these patterns are.  Top-down, In-The-Round are all terms I thought were fairly recent - 10 years of so.  I love what I have found and then made in current yarns.

So I will share one with you

Its from Patons R26 Patons - Favourite Designs For Babies Reprinted

The pattern I first tried is called 'Cary'
It's top-down and the only seam is the sleeves.
But you can easily make it seamless

Here is my first attempt back in June 2012 and I was stash busting, hence the colour change

My second attempt was also in June 2012.  This time I used 5ply yarn and relevant needles to make it larger.  I also omitted the sleeves, as it was more for Spring/Summer

And my latest attempt..... well I decided to stick with the original design.  Except I didn't embroider the flowers ( I still need to fine tune my embroidery on knits)

I was really pleased with it :-)

How different has each project turned out
Amazing what different yarns, colours and a slight twist can do to a pattern

And all yarn used is from Bendigo Woollen Mills
The first and last one is 4ply Luxury and the second one is 5ply Classic

I will probably pop in from time to time to share more of my vintage projects

Bye for now

Both patterns have links in my sidebar, if your interested
